Campus Ambassadors @ UAlbany

Grady on Phileo [Brotherly Love]: “Deigo and the Black Pants.”

Just before the night we were to discuss brotherly love, “Phileo” in the greek, Grady had an experience with a classmate. He rushed to tell me that he just had an experience that was a great example of Phileo and he had to share it!

I’m Glad he did!  It blessed us all and set the tone for a great discussion on what it means to be a brother or sister to each other!

Kristi’s Testimony

To start off the semester [fall 2012], our Vice President, Kristi Lacetti brought an open, transparent, humble, and powerful piece of her story!  Thank you Kristi for sharing and sending such an encouraging and motivating message of redemption through struggle to us all.  Thanks for motivating those who might not feel comfortable being at a Christian group on UAlbany campus, to feel welcome and to keep coming back, despite the struggles!

Infusion Weekend

Every year on Memorial Day weekend [from Thursday to Tuesday - 5 days],  Campus Ambassadors Christian Fellowships from all over the northeast, and one group from Colorado, come together for 5 days of growth in our relationship with Christ and our relationships with each other.  We are “Infused” with Jesus’ ways, Spirit, love and truth together during our time together.
This is no typical retreat!
It is 5-days long and intentionally focused on building up leaders in Christ to go back to their campuses and share the Love of Jesus with the campus they come from.  There are workshops on topics such as Leading small groups, Sharing our faith, Discipling others, Leading Worship, Drama as worship and Social Justice issues!  There are also elective’s like Over-coming depression, Spiritual warfare, Sexual immorality, Gifts of the Spirit, organizing for ministry and much much more!
Each day there is worship, prayer, a teaching, small groups and tons of fun activities [hiking/horseback riding/swing dancing/etc.].  Each year there are some who come to know and follow Jesus for the first time and some who choose to become Baptized!

Jesus IS Practical!

What have we learned this year?  As we wrapped up 2009-2010, we looked back at the vast amount of topics and distance we had come in just one year with Jesus’ help and direction!

It was a powerful year and there is some great testimony to that in this talk!

Due to technical difficulties we were not able to record this talk, however please read the notes and view the slides below.  Talk given on 5/4/10.

Jesus is Practical: Sabbath

REST!  Some never get any.  Some get way too much!  Yet, neither extreme is healthy.  God teaches us from the beginning of the Bible, and all throughout it, to take a break, to rest, to contemplate, to fellowship with Him; to sabbath!

Why is this so important to God?  Why did He rest?  What does this do for us?  Is this a hard and fast rule, or a concept or a suggestion?  What does it look like to rest?

Join us for this teaching as we investigate God’s heart for our rest!

Talk given 4/27/10.  Sadly, due to technical difficulties we were unable to record this message.  However please see the notes and powerpoint below.

Jesus is Practical: Prayer

Prayer is our direct line of communication to God!  It doesn’t get any better than that!  It is how we stay in tune with Him at any time of the day in any situation.

So why do we struggle to do it?  What happens when it seems like nobody’s listening or hearing our prayers?  Why should we pray?  What does it look like to pray effectively?

Please listen and find out.  This talk was given 4/20/10.

Jesus is Practical: Accountability

It is seldom talked about but urgently needed… Accountability!  What does it mean and what does it mean to be accountable?  Who are we really accountable to?  If this one topic were taken seriously by the church alone, what would our world look like?  We would be the beacon of light that the world is looking for in all it’s “darkness” and attract people to Jesus!

Accountability isn’t easy, but it is necessary and very healthy to any individual, group, or society in general!  We NEED this in our lives, but so many of us avoid it like the plague.

Join our discussion as we investigate!  This talk was given on 4/13/10.

Jesus is Practical: Serving Those In Need

Jesus’ words to His disciples and followers were consistent with the major thrust in Scripture towards serving those in need.  There are poor and oppressed people in every culture, environment and economy.  Oppression happens on multiple levels and has many ways of manifesting itself.  This talk focuses on the many ways people are either oppressed or are the oppressors and discovering what we can do about it.

Talk was given 4/6/10.

Jesus is Practical: Community

The natural reaction to the resurrection by the disciples of Jesus was to band together and love one another in remarkable ways!  Why?  What is so powerful about being a part of a community? A Family? Why do we need this?  Please listen as we learn together about being God’s family/community!

This talk was given 3/9/10.

Jesus is Practical: Forgiveness

What does it mean to forgive?  Why is it so important to be forgiving as a follower of Christ?  How do we do this?

Please listen to one of the most powerful talks/discussions given this semester!  Many said that they were deeply moved from this talk and that burdens that they had been holding on to were finally let go that evening and a peace and restoration was seen and felt in their hearts and even some damaged relationships were healed!

Talk given 3/2/10.
